It was June of 2019 when I was lucky enough to see Amanda Owen (The Yorkshire Shepardess) live in Lincolnshire on her UK tour, talking about her life as a Shepardess in the Yorkshire Dales. It was such an interesting and engaging night, topped off with having the chance to meet Amanda at her third book signing. Amanda is so warm, friendly and funny and comes across just as lovely on screen as she does off.

Amanda lives on a farm in Ravenseat, Yorkshire Dales, with husband Clive and their nine children. I first heard of Amanda a few years ago, watching the first season of Our Yorkshire Farm at the end of 2018. Now, she is back again, with her third series of the hit TV show, featuring her children grown up, tackling the harsh Yorkshire winter, spring heat-wave and of course, the Coronavirus pandemic.

Season three episode one saw Amanda and Clive’s eldest child, Raven, 18, preparing for her move to university in York. An experience I can recall like it was yesterday. It was so relatable and emotional watching Raven’s eight younger siblings wave her goodbye as she set off on her two-hour car journey to York.

Meanwhile, it was back to work on the farm, with episode two showing the second eldest, Reuban, having tractor driving lessons from Clive, as well as Clive’s recovery from his hip operation. We also got to see Raven at university video calling her family which was emotional to watch and brought back those homesick-memories first year at university creates.

Amanda and Clive visit Skipton Auction Mart to purchase a breading bull in episode two, but leave with a prize female that Amanda sneakily bids for from under Clive’s nose — a really humours and entertaining moment! The ending of episode two ends with Raven’s brief return to Ravenseat Farm to catch up with her family and have a slap-up meal — definitely always the highlight of visits home after the bland and repetitious food of university.

Our Yorkshire Farm just keeps giving with episode three following the Owen family at Christmas; beautiful and idyllic to watch the family so happy and content celebrating the festivities of Christmas.

Episode four is an historical and crafty episode following sisters Edith and Violet searching for old relics in their barn, as well as the three sons restoring an old steam train set with Dad, Clive.

The premise of episode five is how the Owen family coped during the devastating winter floods and brutal storms at the beginning of 2020. Amanda films shocking footage of their one-tonne trailer being taken down the stream near to their barn and leaving the trailor in ruins.

The finale of Our Yorkshire Farm was perfect and so fitting to watch, showing how the Owen’s have been coping during the Coronavirus pandemic, all filmed by the Owen’s themselves due to camera crew unable to attend during lockdown. Amanda is seen teaching her youngest girls how to aid with birthing sheep — so remarkable to watch.

Our Yorkshire Farm is simply a must-watch. If you are a farm fanatic and live a similar rural life to the Owen’s or are a city person, so much can be gained and learned from this show. It is a real treat and pleasure to watch and I highly recommend Our Yorkshire Farm to anyone and everyone.
